The Families
The Cappon House was home to two groups of families throughout its history. Isaac Cappon was twice married, fathering multiple children with each wife. Most of the materials and information we have today date from the second family, who lived in the home from the 1890s through the late 1970s, thus giving us a better picture of their lives and personalities than the members of the first family.

"Holland's foremost citizen", Isaac Cappon was the city's first mayor and heavily involved in both civic and political affairs.

Isaac's first marriage to Catarina DeBoe resulted in 11 children, many of whom moved out after Catarina's death.
